well i ain't posted in awhile but i have been carrying on with the character work.
I have completed the majority of the character, done the basic head, and almost finished both the weapons. so i am doing rather well for time.

i am rather happy with it so far. The helmet needs reshaping slightly and the arm guards need some work.
the major problem at the moment is the poly count.
im currently at almost 9000 poly's
so im going to have to look through a cut them down.

you can strip a few polys out and let the normal map do the work, places i would think should work well are the ridges on the side of the stomach the armour on his stomach, the armour on the sides of the calf and the strip around the thigh and the inset peice on the side of the arm. That's just the bits i can see in that pic but i'm sure you can find more. simple rule "if it doesnt effect the silhoutte then let the normal map do the work".
Great work Danny. Doing well here but yes as Adam said. Dont put polys in where you dont need them. Remember the Normal Map is a powerful tool and will give you just as good results.
Keep at it and HAPPY NEW YEAR.
I agree with the above statements. It translates well from the design work. Keep it as simple as possible make every poly loop work hard.
