Hoiliday Work :O

well i ain't posted in awhile but i have been carrying on with the character work.
I have completed the majority of the character, done the basic head, and almost finished both the weapons. so i am doing rather well for time.

anyway this is the character so far:

i am rather happy with it so far. The helmet needs reshaping slightly and the arm guards need some work.
the major problem at the moment is the poly count.
im currently at almost 9000 poly's
so im going to have to look through a cut them down.

weapons

Well iv finished my initial gun concepts
i did a few scribbles of ideas on paper and did some research into some futuristic weaponry.
but i decided to do my concepts on photoshop as they look neater and more professional.

below is my line work for the weapons:
mainly concentrated on a sniper rifle and handgun concept. As these are the weapons id l think id like my character to have. i was originally planning on a melee weapon like a sword. i may concept some swords if i decided two guns are unneeded. i don't know yet.

weekend work.

well i have completed my character for my concept art. But i do not have any weapons yet designed and these do need to be on my concept piece. So i am going to concept all my weapon designs out and then decide which suit my character. I am hoping to have all my concept and design work done before Wednesday.

blueprints...

well iv finished the line blueprints for my character and i am rather happy with the outcome. Used the pen tool for the majority and must say it is rather good for producing clean curved lines. thought it was a bit of a slow progress at first but as i progressed it seemed to get alot faster with it.
anyway this is the finished lined blueprints:

After completing this i then progressed to produce a coloured version. i really like the overall look of it. I used the masking technique we learned last year and colored various pieces using flat color and then added shade and highlights.

I know the palette wasn't needed on the blueprints but i produced it so that i can use it on my concept piece afterwards.

Helmet concepts

I designed a page of helmets to try various ones on my prefered armour concept. the majority arnt great but i do like some of them.
Below is shown the page of helmets i have designed:

First concepts

I started concepting blueprints for my character. I am resonable happy with them at the moment and like elements of both of them. These are the first two i have completed:
I like the helmet on this but the armour doesnt quite look right to me. I preffer my other concept.

I preffer the armour on this character. but the helmet is not great. i am now going to do a helmet concept sheet and choose a few of my favourites to try with the armour to see which fits best.

Thumbs up!

well i did a few thumbnails
iv done a number of paper based ones, and a few on photoshop.
these are based of the research i have done and ideas i had been thinking about.

i looked through a few different techniques on thumb nailing and thought id try a different one out than we used last year.

These are my photo shop thumbs. some are better than others. Personally prefer 1,3 and six.

The thumbs are mainly heavy and light armored characters. i personally prefer the lighter armored characters and they make more sense as a bounty hunter would not be wearing heavy bulky armor due to this would hinder the ability to pursue targets.

weekend work

over the weekend i have completed the majority of my research for my character. i still need to do some weapon research and i will need to advance my research when i choose a specific look i would like for my character. e.g may need to research helmet designs if i choose to have a helmet etc.

Starting a little late...

Well i know i have not updated this so far this year. Mainly just because i either forgot or was bust doing other stuff. But i am going to be updating as regular as possible from now on.

okay
So we started our character design module last week. We were introduced to the module content and what we are expected to include within the submission. We were also given a character bio sheet which is to be filled in so that we have some basic parameters and specifications of the character we are going to create. I have filled the majority of this sheet however there are some sections that i have not currently filled because i am struggling to figure anything out to within them.
